Home Up solid fuel boiler only automatic boiler only link up operation bias thermostat control box

Link Up Mode (Both boilers working)

Solid fuel boilers are most efficient between 55 and 70 deg. C, automatic boilers are made to run at higher temperatures, around 82 deg. C. Because of the big difference between the two temperatures the H2 panel does not mix the two outputs together but diverts the solid fuel energy into the return of the automatic boiler which then lifts the temperature to it’s own level, then sends the heat back to H2 for distribution.

The bias thermostat on the H2 Panel is also measuring the flow temperature of the solid fuel flow pipe, when it reaches the temperature set on the bias thermostat it will activate and close down the automatic boiler. (the solid fuel boiler is hot enough to do the job itself) Should the temperature drop the automatic boiler will switch on again.

The lower the bias thermostat is set, the earlier it closes down the automatic boiler.

Heat leak radiator has circuit at all times

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.

Function 8.

Hot Water and Heating Circuits when in Link Up Mode with both Automatic and Solid Fuel boilers firing. When the Programmer is in Hot Water and Heating Mode.

Both boilers are working, motorized valve no 22 is naturally open for the solid fuel flow to pass through and into the return of the automatic boiler. The automatic boiler then tops up the temperature to it’s own level and sends the heat back through motorized valve no 8, which is motored open to the automatic boiler. (closed to the solid fuel boiler).

In hot water and heating mode, motorized Valve no 10/17 is motored to mid position open to the hot water cylinder and radiators.

Status.

bulletMotorized Valve no 22---- Naturally Open for the Solid Fuel Flow to pass through into link up.
bulletMotorized Valve no 8------Motored Open to the Automatic Boiler. (closed to the solid fuel boiler)
bulletMotorized Valve no 9----- Motored Closed to shut of the Gravity Circuit.
bulletMotorized Valve no 10/17 Motored To Mid Position. Open to the Hot Water Cylinder & Radiators.

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.

Function 9.

Heating Circuits in Link Up Mode with both Automatic and Solid Fuel boilers firing and the Programmer is in Hot Water and Heating Mode with the Hot Water Satisfied.

As above, but when the hot water cylinder reaches optimum temperature (detected by the cylinder thermostat), motorized Valve no 10/17 is motored open to the radiators and closed to the hot water cylinder.

Status.

bulletMotorized Valve no 22---- Naturally Open for the Solid Fuel Flow to pass through into link up.
bulletMotorized Valve no 8------Motored Open to the Automatic Boiler. (closed to the solid fuel boiler)
bulletMotorized Valve no 9----- Motored Closed to shut of the Gravity Circuit.
bulletMotorized Valve no 10/17 Motored Open to the Radiators & Closed to the Hot Water Cylinder.

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.
