Home Up solid fuel boiler only heat pump only link up operation

Link Up Mode (Both Ground or Air Source Heat Pump and Solid fuel Boiler Working in Tandem)

Solid fuel boilers are generally efficient around 60 deg. C, ground and air heat source pumps are most efficient operating at much lower temperatures.

Because of the big difference between the two temperatures the H5 panel does not mix the two outputs together but diverts the heat pump energy into the return of the solid fuel boiler which then lifts the temperature to it’s own level, then sends the heat back to H5 for distribution.

Heat leak radiator has circuit at all times

Function 9.

Pumped Circuit for both boilers operating in tandem when in Heating Mode and Hot Water.

The energy from both boilers being fully pumped through the H5 panel in link up mode to serve - heating system flow to radiators, etc. and the hot water recharge and the heat leak circuit.

The ground or air source energy is being pulled through valve 22 into the solid fuel boiler return along with the common return from all the other combined returns of radiators/U.F.H., hot water cylinder and heat leak circuit.

The solid fuel boiler then tops up the temperature to it’s own level and sends the heat back through motorized valve no 8, which is motored open to the solid fuel boiler. (closed to the ground or air source heat pump flow).

In hot water and heating mode, motorized Valve no 10/17 is motored to mid position open to the hot water cylinder and radiators.

Ground or air source heat pump is on.

Solid fuel appliance is firing and up to working temperature.

Room thermostat is calling.

Cylinder thermostat is calling.

Heat Leak Diverter Valve no 1  - Electronically closed to shut off the recycling circuit around the heat leak loop.

Motorized Valve no 22H---- Motored open to allow link up, the ground or air source heat pump energy is drawn by by the pump into the solid fuel return .
Motorized Valve no 8------Naturally open to the solid fuel boiler. (closed to the ground or air source heat pump)
Motorized Valve no 9----- Motored closed to shut off the gravity circuit.
Motorized Valve no 10/17 Motored to mid position. open to the hot water cylinder & radiators/U.F.H..

Function 10.

Pumped Circuit for both boilers operating in tandem when in Heating Mode with Hot Water satisfied.

The energy from both boilers being fully pumped through the H5 panel in link up mode to serve the heating system flow to radiators/ U.F.H. and a heat leak circuit . The programmer is in hot water and heating mode and the cylinder thermostat satisfied.

As above, but when the hot water cylinder reaches optimum temperature (detected by the cylinder thermostat), motorized valve no 10/17 is motored open to the radiators and closed to the hot water cylinder.

Programmer H/W on C/H on
