Home Up solid fuel boiler only automatic boiler only link up operation

Automatic - Running the system on automatic with only the automatic boiler working.

With the solid fuel boiler not firing and cold, the automatic system is under the control of the programmer, just the same as any normal automatic system. Read the programmer users guide for further help.

Heat leak radiator has circuit at all times -Sometimes gravity and sometimes pumped

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.

Function 6.

Pumped Circuit for the Automatic Boiler when in Hot Water Mode.

With the only the automatic boiler working, motorized valve no 8 is motored open to the automatic boiler, (closed to the solid fuel boiler). In hot water mode, motorized Valve no 10/17 is naturally open to the hot water cylinder, (closed to the radiators).

When the cylinder thermostat is satisfied because the hot water in the cylinder is up to heat, the automatic boiler is switched off. (The residual heat from the pump overrun on boiler, if applicable is allowed to clear).

Programmer H/W on C/H off

Automatic boiler is on.

Solid fuel appliance is not firing and cold.

Room thermostat not applicable at this stage. (Because CH is off.)

Cylinder thermostat is calling.

Bias thermostat temperature not reached (Solid fuel appliance not firing and cold)

Pumped circulation to

  1.  heat leak circuit.
  2.  hot water cylinder.

Valve Status.

Heat Leak Diverter Valve no 1  - Electronically closed to shut off the recycling circuit around the heat leak loop.

Motorized Valve no 22 - Motored closed to prevent link up mode.
Motorized Valve no 8 - Motored open to the Automatic Boiler . (closed to the Solid Fuel Boiler)
Motorized Valve no 9 - Motored closed.
Motorized Valve no 10/17 - Normal position sprung open to the Hot Water Cylinder. (closed to the radiators)

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.

Function 7.

Pumped Circuit for the Automatic Boiler when in Hot Water and Heating Mode.

As above, but in hot water and heating mode, motorized Valve no 10/17 is motored to mid position open to the hot water cylinder and radiators.

Programmer H/W on C/H on

Automatic boiler is on.

Solid fuel appliance is not firing and cold.

Room thermostat is calling.

Cylinder thermostat is calling.

Bias thermostat temperature not reached (Solid fuel appliance not firing and cold)

Motorized Valve no 9 - Motored closed.
Motorized Valve no 10/17 - Motored To Mid Position. Open to the Hot Water Cylinder & Radiators.

Red = Flow. Blue = Return. Orange = Preheated Return. White = Not flowing.

Function 8.

Pumped Circuit for the Automatic Boiler when in Heating Mode with Hot Water satisfied

When the hot water cylinder reaches optimum temperature (detected by the cylinder thermostat), motorized Valve no 10/17 is motored open to the radiators and closed to the hot water cylinder.

Programmer H/W on C/H on

Automatic boiler is on.

Solid fuel appliance is not firing and cold.

Room thermostat is calling.

Cylinder thermostat is satisfied.
